Lucia is twelve years old and lives in Solola. She is currently in the sixth grade and has big dreams. When she grows up, she hopes to preserve native languages and teach them in her country. Her father passed away nine years ago, and shortly after, her mother died, as well. Lucia lives with her grandparents and they treat her like their own daughter. Her grandparents are dedicated to selling fruits and maintaining their small business.

Roots and Wings is only three minutes from her home, and Lucia is eager to attend computer classes every day! Thanks to your donation, Lucia is taught competitive skills that connect her to the world. Thank you to all of you for providing this great opportunity! Wilson is 10 years old and is the son of Martin and Catarina. He is currently enrolled in third grade and lives in Solala, Guatemala, which is located 85 miles east of Guatemala City.

Wilson aspires to become a great businessman and has a dream to own his own store that sells daily goods in his village.  Unfortunately, his family earns very little money and continuing education for Wilson is difficult for his family to afford. His father is a farmer that grows bananas, coffee, and maxan, which generates only $50 dollars a month. His mother is a stay at home mom. Wilson has three older brothers and a four year old sister.

With the help of all of your donations, Wilson is excited to have the opportunity to spend a year continuing to gain computer knowledge and skills. The Roots and Wings computer lab is located just two minutes from their home, making tutorial and computer classes very accessible.  Thank you so much for coming together to enable Wilson to keep his dream alive!

Felipe is the son of Manuel and Anonia.  He was born on October 21st, 2009 and is currently 11 years old.  He is enrolled in 6th grade in Pasac, Guatemala and dreams of becoming a well known singer. 

Felipe and his family live in a farmhouse in the village of Xejuyup, which is just three minutes away from the Roots and Wings Educational Center, where he takes computer courses. His father works as a farmer on their small farm and depending on the harvest, earns less than $20 dollars a month.  While his mother stays at home and takes care of Felipe’s younger brothers and sisters. 

Thanks to your combined generosity, Felipe is now enrolled in a year of computer literacy classes.  The knowledge and skills he will learn from these classes will no doubt help Felipe fulfill his dreams.   Thank you so much for your kindness!

Jerardo is eight years old and currently lives in Solola with his mother. He goes to the local primary school and is currently in the second grade. In the future, Jerardo has high hopes of becoming a dentist because he thinks that oral health is an important part of a person’s well-being. His mother works as a seamstress in her former husband’s tailoring shop, and makes about $40 a month. Jerardo is an only child and takes classes at Roots and Wings, which is just two minutes from home.

Thanks to your combined generosity, Jerardo is enrolled for a full year of computer literacy classes! These classes will give him the knowledge and tools he needs to advance with his vocational and personal goals. Thank you so much for your kindness!

Carlos is 12 years old and is currently in the sixth grade. He dreams of dedicating his time to the land, and hopes to own and cultivate high quality products from his own plantation. He lives in Solola with his parents. His father is a farmer and cultivates bananas; he makes about $50 monthly. His mother dedicates her time at home.

Carlos lives a short walk from the Roots and Wings education center, and thanks to your donation, has access to a whole year of computer literacy training! This course will provide him with more competitive skills and give him tools to connect with the world. Thank you so much for your generosity!

Cecilia is 12 years old and lives with her mother Sac and father Mach in the village of Pasach in rural Guatemala. Cecelia dreams of becoming a lawyer, to provide humanitarian support and to counter the various social problems in the community where they live.

Her father works as a laborer on his own land and earns about $100 a month for his family. Her mother is dedicated to the affairs of the home. Cecilia lives about three minutes from the Education Center run by Roots and Wings.

Thanks to your combined generosity, Cecilia is able to receive a whole year of after-school tutoring. With extra support, Cecilia is given the tools to meet and excel her educational goals. Thank you for helping Cecilia’s dreams become closer to reality!

Claudia is nine years old and currently lives with her two parents and brother in Solola. She is in the second grade,  and hopes to work as a secretary when she is an adult. Above all, she just wants to help her family. Her father is a farmer and makes a mere 50 dollars monthly. Her mother is a housewife and is dedicated to her family. Her eleven year old brother is also enrolled in one of Roots and Wings programs.

Thanks to your generous donation, Laurent, Claudia is able to attend a computer literacy program for a whole year. Not only are you providing Claudia with an employable skill, you are giving her access to knowledge with a click of the button. Thank you for supporting Claudia’s education!

Francisca is 9 years old and lives with her parents, Sac and Maria in Pasach village in Guatemala. Her father works as a farmer and has a monthly income of approximately $40. Her mother is engaged in household tasks and takes care of Francisca’s two younger sisters who are 4 and 2. Francisca also has one older sister who is 12.

Francisca is fortunate in that she lives just two minutes from the Centro Educativo run by Roots and Wings, and walks downhill to class each day! Thank you all for ensuring that Francisca has access to computer literacy training for a full year!
