Juan wants to be a teacher when he grows up!

Dear Duane, Sawan, Kim, Srikanth, Carlos, , and holly,

Juan is 13 years old and is in 5th grade at the Caserío Maxanijá school in rural Guatemala. He lives in the Sololá region. Juan dreams of becoming a middle school teacher when he grows up so that he can pass on his knowledge and motivation to students of the future.

Juan’s father, Pascual, grows and harvests watercress for a living. His mother, Catarina, sells the watercress at the market. Together they make about $50 a month, which is barely enough to cover the basic needs of their home.

Juan walks 25 minutes uphill on foot to reach the Roots and Wings education center. Here he receives the computer literacy classes that you so generously donated to him. Thanks to you, Juan is learning new skills that will help him to achieve his dreams.
