Elmer wants to help others when he grows up!

Elmer Alexander Xum Guarchaj
Dear Ian, Barbara, Steve, SApo, Jorge, Majo, Marta, and Aye,

Elmer was born on October 1, 2000 and he’s 11 years old. Elmer is from the village of Pochol in the region of Sololá in Guatemala. He is in 5th grade at the local elementary school.

Elmer’s father, Manuel, works as an assistant mason, he is also a farmer on the few land plots he owns.  He makes about $65USD per month, depending on the work he can find that month.  Elmer’s mother, Catarina, takes care of the home and does not have an income.

When he grows up, Elmer wants to have a career in which he can help people in many different villages. His favorite book is “El Secreto de Tortuga (The Secret of the Turtle)” and he walks 20 minutes uphill to get to the tutoring center where he receives his lessons. With your donation, Elmer is able to stay on track in school so that he can achieve his dream of helping people someday. Thank you for giving Elmer this unique opportunity, he’s very grateful!
